The Habring2 Felix Foudroyante Salmon Dial

How do I bid? Start here

Introduction

Founded in 2004 by husband-and-wife duo Richard and Maria Habring in the small town of Völkermarkt, Austria, Habring2 produces some of the most understated and technically impressive timepieces on the market for their relatively affordable price points. Among their long list of accomplishments is the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) award that their Doppel 2 won in 2012 in the sports watch category, which only goes to show their impressive talents as watchmakers. Further showcasing those talents is the Foudroyante-Felix that we have here. A remarkable timepiece that epitomizes precision and elegance, the Foudroyante-Felix offers a signature complication of Habring’s, a “flashing seconds” which is a direct indication of the rotation of the escape wheel, with a hand at 9 o’clock showing every single oscillation of the regulating organ as it rotates once per second on a sub-dial around its own axis. In addition to that, Habring have also fit the Foudroyante-Felix with another signature complication of theirs, the deadbeat seconds where the central second hand ticks like it would in a quartz movement – a surprisingly complex thing to do in a mechanical movement. Powered by the in-house A11F movement, the Foudroyante-Felix ensures impeccable accuracy and reliability. Boasting a brushed salmon dial and fit within a 38.5mm stainless steel case, the Foudroyante-Felix is a wonderfully understated timepiece on the wrist that lets its movement and mechanics do the talking.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

Boasting a rich salmon dial with a vertically-brushed finish, the Foudroyante-Felix's display is a wonderful backdrop for its duo of intriguing complications, its flashing seconds at 9 o'clock and deadbeat seconds via ita central second hand.

THE MOVEMENT
THE MOVEMENT

Developed, manufactured, and assembled in Austria, the Foudroyante-Felix is powered by Habring's in-house cal. A11F movement, which features a module that powers its deadbeat seconds hand that announces itself via its quartz movement-like jumping motion, in addition to its additional 'flashing second' hand that showcases the beat of its escape wheel at 9 o'clock.

Condition

Watch is in overall like-new condition. The steel case shows only light signs of wear. Comes complete with box and papers.

Our Perspective

Flexing their horological muscles once again, the Foudroyante-Felix combines the technically impressive deadbeat seconds complication with the aesthetically whacky and wonderful "flashing seconds" complication, which Habring have used since 2010.
