Introduction
Launched in 2024 as one of horology’s most exciting independent watchmakers, Toledano & Chan was founded by geezer extraordinaire Phil Toledano and his business partner Alfred Chan as a way to merge a shared appreciation for brutalist architecture with their passion for horology. Emerging from that shared vision, Toldano & Chan launched their first watch, the B/1, inspired by the brutalist Met Breuer building in New York City. Debuting in 2026 as the third variant of the B/1, the B/1.3 was launched from the B/1’s very same platform, with the same three-dimensional case that measures a slightly smaller 32mm wide (instead of 33.5mm) but still ranges from 9.1mm to 10.4mm thick. However, instead of the B/1’s typical use of stone dials, the B/1.3 features a solid gold dial with a rippled texture like what you’d find on wind-swept sand dunes, which is angled with the case towards the wearer as always. Boasting a titanium destro case design with its crown at 9 o’clock and offered on a matching titanium integrated bracelet with an exaggerated taper that ensures every single link on the bracelet is uniquely shaped, the B/1.3 showcases an unparalleled level of forethought and design, with the bevel on the 3 o’clock side of the B/1.3’s case tracing its way along the entirely of its bracelet. With its uninterrupted rippled gold dial and unique design, the Toledano & Chan B/1.3 is a true triumph of independent watchmaking that deservedly sold out of all of its 300 pieces.

THE DIAL
Made of a solid piece of gold, the B/1.3R's dial boasts a rippled texture that is immediately reminiscent of sandy dunes or the texture of sand under shallow water.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Inspired by 1970s brutalist architecture, the B/1.3's asymmetric destro case is intriguingly three-dimensional thanks to how its case, bracelet, and display are all angled towards the wearer. Updated from previous references, the construction is now made of titanium instead of steel and is smaller at 32mm instead of 33.5mm wide.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in new condition and still retains its factory protective plastics. It is fitted with a bracelet comprising 24 links and fits approximately a 7¼” wrist. Comes complete with box and papers.
Please note: The watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Our Perspective
Combining a novel approach to horological design with an equally unusual source of inspiration, the B/1.3R is an exciting exhibition of the wonderfully unique watches that independent brands can create when they aren't afraid to create something new.
