Unveiled in 2012 at Baselworld, the Tudor Black Bay has quickly become one of Tudor’s best-selling collections as it takes direct inspiration from the iconic Tudor Submariner ref. 7922. Seeking to build on the aesthetics of the early Submariner models, the Black Bay family is beloved by Tudor’s collectors for its vintage-inspired design traits like its faux-rivet bracelet, gilt inscriptions, anodized aluminum bezel insert, and large crown. Further refined in 2018, Tudor launched the Black Bay Fifty-Eight as they dove even deeper into their archives and drew inspiration from their 1958 Submariner “Big Crown” Ref. 7924. With its red arrow-featuring dive bezel, thinner profile and 2mm smaller case diameter of 39mm, the BB58, as it is called, was a more refined version of its older sibling, with the very same depth rating of 200m – a true dive watch. Receiving intensely positive reception straight away, the BB58 has quickly become Tudor’s most popular watch. Iterating upon that design, Tudor took it upon themselves to launch a new version of the BB58 in 2021. Instead of being made of its native stainless steel, the Black Bay 58 ref. 79010SG is made of sterling silver, and offered on a leather strap or grey NATO strap. Boasting a taupe grey dial to match its construction, this timepiece is a unique and interesting exploration of the Black Bay 58’s design.

The watch is in overall excellent condition. The 925 silver case has developed patina across most areas. The model and serial engravings, along with the hallmarks, are all crisp. There are some scratches and a couple of nicks on the backs of the lugs and the inner lug edges. The dial and hands are pristine. The watch comes on a fabric strap with a 925 silver buckle in excellent condition. Comes complete with boxes, warranty, booklet, and hang tag.

A true 'If you know you know' kind of watch, whereby most would just assume it is a stainless steel watch, the ref. 79010SG is for those who enjoy collecting things for their own personal enjoyment.
