Introduction
Unveiled in 2012 at Baselworld, the Tudor Black Bay has quickly become one of Tudor’s best-selling collections as it takes direct inspiration from the iconic Tudor Submariner ref. 7922. Seeking to build on the aesthetics of the early Submariner models, the Black Bay family is beloved by Tudor’s collectors for its vintage-inspired design traits like its faux-rivet bracelet, gilt inscriptions, anodized aluminum bezel insert, and large crown. Further refined in 2018, Tudor launched the Black Bay Fifty-Eight as they dove even deeper into their archives and drew inspiration from their 1958 Submariner “Big Crown” Ref. 7924. With its red arrow-featuring dive bezel, thinner profile and 2mm smaller case diameter of 39mm, the BB58, as it is called, was a more refined version of its older sibling, with the very same depth rating of 200m – a true dive watch. Receiving intensely positive reception straight away, the BB58 has quickly become Tudor’s most popular watch. Iterating upon that design, Tudor took it upon themselves to launch a new version of the BB58 in 2021. Instead of being made of its native stainless steel, the Black Bay 58 ref. 79012M is made of bronze, and offered on a bronze Oyster-style bracelet. Boasting a copper brown dial and bezel to match its construction, this timepiece is a unique and interesting exploration of the Black Bay 58’s design.

THE DIAL
Boasting a copper bronze dial to match its construction, the ref. 79012M's dial is also uniquely fitted with Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, distinguishing it from other Black Bay Fifty-Eight variants that have only applied indices.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Made of bronze instead of stainless steel, the ref. 79010M's construction develops a patina in its sharp corners and surfaces that showcase the nature of its exotic material, and add a wear pattern that is unique to each wearer.

Watch is in overall like-new condition. The case shows only light signs of wear or handling, with the bronze case displaying natural patina as intended by Tudor. The bracelet is fitted with 11 links and fits approximately a 7” wrist. Additionally, there are 3 additional links included. Comes complete with inner and outer boxes, warranty card, booklet, hangtag, and Tudor fabric strap.
Our Perspective
An unusual take on the Black Bay Fifty Eight on account of its use of a rather unusual material, the ref. 79012M's bronze construction is full of character and makes it a wonderfully unique watch, especially after it has developed bronze's signature patina.
