Introduction
Unveiled in 2012 at Baselworld, the Tudor Black Bay has quickly become one of Tudor’s best-selling collections as it takes direct inspiration from the iconic Tudor Submariner ref. 7922. Seeking to build on the aesthetics of the early Submariner models, the Black Bay family is beloved by Tudor’s collectors for its vintage-inspired design traits like its faux-rivet bracelet, gilt inscriptions, anodized aluminum bezel insert, and large crown. Further refined in 2018, Tudor launched the Black Bay Fifty-Eight as they dove even deeper into their archives and drew inspiration from their 1958 Submariner “Big Crown” Ref. 7924. With its red arrow-featuring dive bezel, thinner profile and 2mm smaller case diameter of 39mm, the BB58, as it is called, was a more refined version of its older sibling, with the very same depth rating of 200m – a true dive watch. Receiving intensely positive reception straight away, the BB58 has quickly become Tudor’s most popular watch. Indeed, such a positive reception has even caught the eye of a private Apple employee collectors group. Collaborating with Tudor, this group, inspired by an 1980s splinter group of Apple employees led by Steve Jobs in 1983, the group had the Jolly Roger skull and crossbones pirate flag design printed on the dial at 6 o’clock by Tudor. Limited to just 82 individually-numbered pieces, and boasting the pirate flag on their casebacks, these timepieces are a wonderful reminder of Apple’s disruptive history and eventual growth into one of the world’s most influential and important companies.

THE DIAL
Boasting a Jolly Roger pirate flag at 6 o'clock, this timepiece celebrates the rebellious group of Apple employees who thought the company had become too bureaucratic and needed to go back to its roots as a disruptive thinker.

THE CASEBACK
Individually numbered and limited to just 82 pieces, these Apple employee watches are extremely rare and also boast the same pirate flag on their caseback as is on their dial.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

Condition
Watch is in overall near-mint condition. The steel case shows light signs of wear and minor surface scratches to the polished sections, with additional marks visible on the backs of the lugs from a strap change, while the case back remains very clean. The dial and hands remain like new. It is fitted with a Tudor fabric strap in near-mint condition and includes the original steel bracelet. Comes with inner and outer boxes and two booklets. Please note that the original guarantee card is NOT included.

A rare watch that highlights Apple's history as a brand focused on disrupting the status quo and creating innovative products, the Pirate Flag ref. 79030N is a wonderful tie-in between one of horology's most important brands and one of technology's most important brands.
