Introduction
Unveiled in 2012 at Baselworld, the Tudor Black Bay has quickly become one of Tudor’s best-selling collections as it takes direct inspiration from the iconic Tudor Submariner ref. 7922. Seeking to build on the aesthetics of the early Submariner models, the Black Bay family is beloved by Tudor’s collectors for its vintage-inspired design traits like its faux-rivet bracelet, gilt inscriptions, anodized aluminum bezel insert, and large crown. Further refined in 2018, Tudor launched the Black Bay Fifty-Eight as they dove even deeper into their archives and drew inspiration from their 1958 Submariner “Big Crown” Ref. 7924. With its red arrow-featuring dive bezel, thinner profile and 2mm smaller case diameter of 39mm, the BB58, as it is called, was a more refined version of its older sibling, with the very same depth rating of 200m – a true dive watch. Receiving intensely positive reception straight away, the BB58 has quickly become Tudor’s most popular watch, and in 2020 they followed up the black version with a blue variant, which is what we have here. Boasting a blue dial and bezel combination with silver inscriptions that replace the gilt inscriptions on the black variant, this became the collection’s most popular variant, which it still remains today.

THE DIAL
Boasting a bright blue dial to match its blue aluminum bezel, this variant of the BB58 swaps its sibling's gilt inscriptions for more modern silver ones.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Featuring a 39mm diameter stainless steel case with an Oyster-style bracelet, faux rivets along its edge, a dramatically domed sapphire crystal, and a guardless winding crown, the BB58's construction is modern in its robustness and build quality, but vintage-inspired in its aesthetic.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
The watch is in overall near-mint condition. The steel case has some light surface marks but retains sharp edges and excellent definition. The bezel and blue insert are near mint. The dial and hands are like new. The steel bracelet has light surface scratches, particularly on the clasp, and negligible play between the links. The bracelet currently fits a 7 1/4” wrist, and has 12 links, 2 of which are removable. Two additional links are included. The watch comes complete with box, guarantee card, booklets, and a spare unused blue strap with steel deployant.
Our Perspective
A wonderfully versatile sports watch that combines modern watchmaking with vintage aesthetics, the BB58 punches far beyond its weight considering its level of detail and just how robust it is.
