Introduction

Originally launched in the early 1970s, the Tudor Monte Carlo has developed as one of Tudor's most recognisable models thanks to its unique aesthetic and similarities to its sibling, the Rolex Daytona. Built from Rolex parts, the Monte Carlo has always been an incredibly robust timepiece. With a trip-lock Rolex crown, substantial squared-off crown guards, screw-down pushers and stainless steel bezel, the Monte Carlo could easily withstand daily wear and tear much unlike the fragile chronographs from its period – spurring its popularity within Tudor’s catalog. However, while it is built with Rolex parts, the Monte-Carlo’s dial is what set it apart from Tudor’s big brother brand. Named the “Monte-Carlo” due to its visual similarities to a roulette wheel, the Monte Carlo's dial injects personality and colour into the timepiece with precision and accuracy. A calculated aesthetic, the Monte Carlo's dial uses colour in a useful fashion while also providing a unique character to the timepiece overall. On the back of the popularity of the vintage original, Tudor launced the Monte-Carlo Re-Edition within the Heritage collection in 2013 soon after the brand was revived. Boasting Tudor’s modern build quality, the Monte-Carlo’s stunning and unique blue, white and orange bi-compax dial, the ref. 70330B has become a staple of Tudor’s more modern line-up that has fit perfectly within their identity as a watchmaker with vintage inspiration and impeccable build quality.

Condition

Watch is in very good overall condition. There is moderate surface wear evident, with case wear and scratches visible along the surfaces of the case, bracelet buckle. as well as wear on the backside of the lugs and bracelet due to bracelet removal. The bracelet has 10 links, 1 of which is removable. It fits a 7 1/2" bracelet, with an additional 2 and one half links included.

Our Perspective

Bringing one of Tudor's best-known watches into the realm of modern watchmaking, the Monte-Carlo Re-Edition is an intriguing offering that speaks to both; vintage collectors who want a modern watch, and modern collectors who want a watch with a storied design.
