Introduction
Launched in 1971 as Tudor's second series of chronographs, the ref. 7100 series has evolved into one of Tudor's most recognizable models thanks to its unique aesthetic and storied past. With Tudor becoming an increasingly independent brand, these vintage models have experienced a surge in popularity over the last few years as collectors begin to appreciate them for what they are – outstandingly well-built vintage icons. Built from Rolex parts, it is no surprise that the Monte Carlo ref. 7169 that we have here is an incredibly robust timepiece, even considering its age. Featuring a trip-lock Rolex crown, substantial squared-off crown guards, screw-down pushers, and stainless steel 12-hour graduated bezel, the Monte Carlo ref. 7169 features some modern creature comforts built into its design that enable it to withstand daily wear and tear much better than the fragile chronographs from its period. A beast among Tudor's catalog until 1977, this 40mm monster is perfectly well-suited for the modern collector looking to dabble with vintage and vintage aficionados alike.

THE DIAL
Perhaps the Monte Carlo's most unique aspect is its dial; with its "Monte Carlo" nickname inspired by its visual similarities to a roulette wheel. A calculated aesthetic, the Monte Carlo's dial uses color in a utilitarian fashion so as to increase legibility, while also stylizing the display and making the watch extremely unique at the time of its production.
THE BEZEL
Unlike the other Monte Carlo references within the ref. 7100 series, the ref. 7169 features a 12-hour countdown bezel (which is inspired by the ref. 7033 prototype) as opposed to a tachymeter bezel like the rest of the ref. 7100 series models.

Condition
Watch is in like near mint, nearly like new condition. It still retains the original caseback sticker. Case is thick and full with sharp chamfers. There is a total of 13 links in the bracelet, that has little to no stretch.

A legendary watch that has only begun to develop the appreciation that it so deserves, the Monte Carlo ref. 7169 was long ahead of its time, with its construction still relevant and impressive today.
