Introduction
An admittedly utilitarian watch, the Tudor Oysterdate is refined and free from excess like a lot of other Tudor models. Launched in the 1950s, it features the manual-wind movement and boasts a stainless steel Rolex case and Rolex Oyster bracelet along with a Rolex winding cronw . Svelte by today’s proportions, the Oysterdate was sold as an entry-level cousin to the Rolex Datejust, with its 2mm smaller 34mm case and manual movement allowing its retail price to be that bit more palatable. Sporting a black waffle dial with a roulette datewheel whereby the numbers alternate between red and black, this ref. 7939 is a stunning example of mid-century utilitarianism at its finest.

Our Perspective
Combining the ref. 7939's no-frills aesthetic with a luxurious black and gold display dial, this timepiece is a wonderful example of how vintage Oysterdates have developed over the years.
