Introduction
Introduced in 1970, the Oysterdate Chronograph marked a defining moment in Tudor's history as the brand's first chronograph and the beginning of one of its most celebrated model families. Combining Rolex's proven Oyster case architecture with the robust Valjoux 7734 chronograph movement, the reference established Tudor as a serious manufacturer of professional sports watches beyond its already successful dive watch collection. Unlike many contemporary chronographs, the Oysterdate offered genuine everyday durability thanks to its screw-down Oyster construction, making it one of the most practical chronographs of its era.
Produced for only a short period before the arrival of the second-generation "Monte Carlo" models, the reference 7032 is instantly recognisable by the distinctive hour markers that have earned it the collector nickname "Home Plate." Their softly faceted pentagonal shape gives the dial a character unlike anything produced by Rolex or Tudor before or since. The grey dial, accented by vivid orange chronograph details and framed by a black tachymeter bezel, perfectly captures the bold design language of the early 1970s. This example is made even more desirable by retaining its original Mk1 screw-down pushers, components frequently replaced during Rolex service interventions and therefore seldom encountered today.

THE DIAL
The grey "Home Plate" dial is among the most recognisable designs ever produced by Tudor, distinguished by its unique pentagonal luminous hour markers that inspired the reference's enduring nickname. Contrasting orange chronograph accents and the bi-compax layout complete one of the most charismatic sports watch dials of the 1970s.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The Oyster case combines Rolex-manufactured components, including the Oyster case architecture, screw-down crown and case back, with Tudor's distinctive chronograph design. Particularly noteworthy are the original Mk1 screw-down pushers, highly sought after by collectors as they were routinely replaced during period servicing and are rarely found preserved today.

Condition
Watch is in overall very good condition. The steel case shows surface scratches and more noticeable nicks along the edges. The case back has surface marks and retains well-defined engravings. The tachymeter bezel has dings and scratches, while most of the black enamel remains present within the scale. The case retains its correct early pushers and Twinlock winding crown. The dial is in excellent condition, with a slight imperfection visible on the edge of the 11 o’clock luminous, and a couple very minor marks visible on the grey surface. The hands show some light marks. It is fitted with a USA riveted Oyster bracelet showing surface marks and moderate play between the links. The bracelet is fitted with 12 links and fits approximately a 7¼” wrist.

The reference 7032 represents the beginning of Tudor's chronograph story and remains one of the most important references the brand has ever produced. Its unmistakable Home Plate dial, robust Oyster construction and charismatic 1970s aesthetic have secured its place among the great vintage sports chronographs.
