Introduction
Launched in 2012 just 3 short years after Tudor’s relaunch in 2009, the Pelagos entered the market as one of the most capable dive watches on the market. Designed from an entirely blank slate and not inspired by any previous collections from either Tudor, or Rolex’s back-catalog, the Pelagos is one of the brand’s most function-focused watches. Existing as Tudor’s contemporary hardcore diver’s watch with the specs to prove it, the Pelagos is constructed from advanced materials such as titanium and ceramic, water resistant to an impressive 500m and even comes equipped with a helium escape valve – cementing it as a hardcore dive watch. With a highly specialized clasp to facilitate quick micro-adjustments and a spring-loaded system to accommodate wetsuits, everything about the Pelagos was designed with function in mind, including its heavily-lumed matte dial that is immediately reminiscent of the dive watches that came before it. Large at 42mm in diameter, the Pelagos is imposing on the wrist but thanks to the extremely light materials it is made of, it is an easy watch to wear even though it so clearly that function first; something that very few watches still do these days.

THE DIAL
Boasting a black dial with a matte finish like that of which was once more commonplace, the Pelagos retains some vintage inspiration within its modern design. Additionally, this example features the State of Qatar inscription at 6 o'clock, designating it as a limited edition timepiece that was ordered on behalf of the Qatari Royal Family.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Large in design yet light on the wrist, the Pelagos makes use of titanium and ceramic to ensure that its 42mm case and matching bracelet don't weigh down their wearer.
