Introduction
Debuting in 1954, the Tudor Submariner set out on its journey to become a more affordable version of the Rolex Submariner, which had been released the year prior, in keeping with Tudor's original ethos. A legendary watch thanks to its ties to the French Navy amongst other military forces, the Tudor Submariner's history as one of the most widely issued military dive watches speaks for itself. Keen to produce just as high-quality a product as their sibling, Tudor fitted the Submariner with OEM Rolex parts throughout its construction, except for its third-party movement. Released in 1969, the ref. 7021/0, which we have here, ushered in a new era for the Submariner and Tudor alike by introducing the new snowflake handset for which Tudor is famous for and the date complication that can be found at 3 o'clock on the dial. Produced with either a black or blue dial with a matching anodized aluminum bezel insert, the Submariner ref. 7021/0 has become a collector-favorite thanks to its large distinctive square hour markers, snowflake hands, and date function – all immediate tells that this Submariner is undoubtedly a lot more unique than the ones that came before it.

THE DIAL
Featuring a stunning jet-black dial, this example has its original snowflake hands and untouched square hour markers - all of which feature tritium luminous with a stunning patina that has turned a vivid yellow.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Inarguably iconic, the Tudor Submariner's construction is complemented by its sharp-toothed bezel providing rich utility to divers timing their descent and ascent into, and out of, the watery depths they explored with this watch on their wrist.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. Case shows surface wear and scratches but retains a thick and sharp chamfered edge on the lugs. Original black snowflake dial in excellent condition with slightly discolored luminous plots. Hands are of a similar tone, and there is a crack thru the hour hand as seen in the images. Date wheel alternates between red and black numbers. The bezel insert has a few surface marks with an intact pearl that is a lighter tone. Watch comes on a folded link oyster bracelet with a non-flip lock clasp. It has 12 links and has moderate stretch.
Our Perspective
An icon within Tudor's historical catalog, the Submariner has evolved from a robust dive-oriented tool watch into the inspiration for Tudor's most popular modern collection, the Black Bay.
