Introduction
Famed for their incredible dress watches and impeccable craftsmanship, Vacheron Constantin has evolved over the years from their position in the shadows of their fellow "Holy Trinity" members, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe, to a watchmaker that is revered throughout the entire watchmaking industry. Crucial to this development was their attractive dress watches like the ref. 6134 that we have here with its stunning silver dial boasting applied hour markers and a beautiful 18kt yellow gold construction. While most other high-end brands at the time were focused on minimalist style, Vacheron Constantin strayed from the usual and graced us with unique timepieces like this. With its long twisted “lyre” lugs like those on the Omega Speedmaster, this timepiece’s elegant construction is in no doubt they set this incredible watch apart from the typical straight lug dress watches of its era.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT

Condition
Watch is in very good overall condition. Case shows wear along the lugs and surfaces commensurate with its age. There are no major dings or scratches, but there are many light marks visible along the case. The caseback bears an engraving, and the hallmarks on the back of the lugs are crisp and still visible. Dial shows some aging with deterioration along the edge and sone spotting and marks on the dial, primarily near the center. Crystal is scratched. Watch comes on a generic strap that is 1mm smaller than the lugs, and a generic plated clasp.
Our Perspective
An intensely elegant dress watch with a loving caseback engraving, this ref. 6134 embodies the charm and opulence of mid-century dress watches but with a subtle stylishness thanks to its twisted lugs.
