Introduction
Released in 1953, the Vacheron Constantin Chronomètre Royal collection is widely recognized as some of the brand's finest timepieces from that era. Itself debuting in 1962 and building upon that very reputation, the Vacheron Constantin Chronomètre Royal ref. 6694 features Vacheron's first automatic chronometer-certified movement, the cal. 1072, an important milestone for any watchmaker to reach given its position as the highest standard of precision in watchmaking at the time. Famed for its beautifully finished movement, the ref. 6694 is also iconic for its design, thanks to its so-called "Batman" lugs. Named due to their shape, these lugs offer a resoundingly unique appearance given their wide stance and winged silhouette on an otherwise traditionally-shaped case.

THE DIAL
Featuring a bright silver dial to match its 18kt white gold construction, the ref. 6694's aesthetic is entirely monochromatic and capped off nicely with rather architectural applied hour markers.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Referred to as the "Batman", the 35mm 18kt white gold ref. 6694 is known for its unusual case design, which includes wide curved lugs resembling wings.

TIMING MACHINE READOUT
This reading was taken (crown down) with a ONEOF Accuracy Boutique Edition timing machine at time of cataloging. It is provided as a courtesy only, and shall not be construed as a warranty or guarantee of any kind. Please refer to our terms and conditions of sale for more information.
Condition
Watch is in overall excellent condition. The case shows surface scratches and small nicks, while the case back displays more noticeable scratches and retains black enamel within the well-defined engraving. The dial remains excellent, with only a small blemish visible around the date aperture, while the hands remain clean. It is fitted with a black suede strap and a steel pin buckle.
Our Perspective
In a world full of Calatravas, the Chronometre Royal sets itself apart with its generously flared lugs and subtly shaped case. We love its uniqueness of design, and Vacheron's commitment to chronometry with the use of the legendary 1072 movement.
