Introduction

Vacheron Constantin has evolved over the years from their position in the shadows of their fellow "Holy Trinity" members, Audemars Piguet and Patek Philippe, to a watchmaker that is revered throughout the entire watchmaking industry. Crucial to this development was their attractive dress watches like the example we have here with its beautiful diamond-set 18kt white gold construction. While most high-end brands typically focus on creating round dress watches, there has always been room for watchmakers to experiment with timepieces that break from that convention in some way, shape or form, and shape is how the example that we have here breaks from that convention. Boasting a 23mm x 23mm square 18kt white gold case with a diamond-set outer perimeter along its bezel, this example fills the wrist but remains incredibly neat when worn thanks to its lug-less design and integrated bracelet. With a diamond-set bezel surrounding its display, this example’s silver Roman numeral dial pops against its sparkling surroundings. Set apart from the typical circular dress watches of its era in aesthetics, this example indeed stands out from its peers thanks to its gem-set precious metal construction and intricately woven crosshatch pattern bracelet.

THE DIAL
THE DIAL

Sporting a silver Roman numeral dial, the ref. 7150's display combines with its 18kt white gold construction to create a monochromatic design that allows the brilliance of its diamond-set bezel to shine.

THE CONSTRUCTION
THE CONSTRUCTION

Powered by a manual-wind movement, the ref. 7150 wears on the wrist with a intense elegance that can only come from watches that sit with an extremely low profile on the wrist. Additionally, its woven crosshatch pattern bracelet and diamond-set bezel give it a uniquely luxurious presence.

Condition

The watch is in overall excellent condition. The white gold case has some light scratches and marks on the bezel and case back. The diamond-set outer bezel is excellent, with clean stones and settings. The case back has crisp engravings and a clear hallmark. The vertical-brushed dial has a couple of light marks, and the minute hand has some of the enamel missing from the tip. The white gold integrated bracelet retains a well-defined finish and clasp. The bracelet fits an approximately 6” wrist.

Our Perspective

Incredibly elegant on the wrist, it is timepieces like the ref. 7150 that deepened Vacheron's roots as one of watchmaking's finest ateliers with its refined proportions, impressive craftsmanship and luxurious gem-setting, all building upon its impressively thin manual-wind movement and resultingly elegant construction.
