With this, some of Vacheron's timepieces offer a wonderful view of the timepieces that came generations before the modern watches of today and the Patrimony Perpetual Calendar ref. 47009 that we have here is a testament to exactly that. Released in the 1990s as one of the very few ultra-thin perpetual calendars, the Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Perpetual Calendar ref. 47009 that we have here combines some facets of modern watchmaking with timeless design choices to create a timepiece that is effortlessly elegant. Boasting a 34mm 18kt yellow gold case with a stepped bezel and thin lugs, the ref. 47009 wears equally modern on the wrist as it does with a vintage flair. Sporting a silver dial with sunken subdials with gold borders and rich inscriptions for their complications, the ref. 47009’s dial is a lesson in understated refinement. Boasting applied gold indices and a cloud de Paris hobnail texture, the ref. 47009’s display exemplifies the idea that Vacheron pays attention to the small details.

THE CONSTRUCTION
Inspired by the mid-century perpetual calendars that came before it, the ref. 47009 boasts an 18kt yellow gold construction with a stepped bezel and thin lugs that feed into its heritage-inspired aesthetic.

Condition
The watch is in overall very good condition. The yellow gold step case is still well defined, with some noticeable scratches and nicks on the bezel and case. The case back features well-defined engravings and hallmarks, with some scratches and light wear to the screw heads. The VC-signed crown and case-side correctors are very good, with some nicks on the latter. The dial and yellow gold hands are near mint. It is fitted with a black alligator strap and a yellow gold Vacheron Constantin buckle, which has some surface scuffs and sharp hallmarks. Please note that the watch ticks at time of cataloging, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
Our Perspective
Combining a heritage-inspired design with Vacheron's modern capabilities as a watchmaker, the ref. 47009 was a marvel of its time, and rightly so.
