Introduction

Launched in the late 2000s, the Vacheron Constantin Quai de L'ile Date Date and Power Reserve ref. 85050 is an exquisite timepiece that combine masterful artistry with exceptional functionality and craftsmanship – like so many of Vacheron’s timepieces. Boasting a 41mm cushion-shaped case made of palladium with intricate Art Deco-styled lugs and a blend of surface finishes, the Quai de L'ile is a unique watch on the wrist given how few cushion-shaped cases we see on the market, but most of all, the relatively lightweight nature of palladium. Featuring a skeletonized dial with a silver chapter ring and black hands, the Quai de L'ile provides a perfect view of the intricate inner-workings of it automatic VC cal. 2475 SC/1 movement. Delicate sunray-type laser lines elegantly delineate the minute/second scale, and small applied steel Vacheron Maltese crosses grace the entire display in an impressive show of craftsmanship and attention to detail. At 9 o'clock there is a a radial day display, while a radial date dial resides at 3 o'clock. The transparent arched power reserve indicator at 6 o'clock reveals a High/Low range with the aid of a black indicator hand, showcasing the Quai de L'ile’s 43-hour power reserve. A visually impressive watch that has the craftsmanship to back it up, the Quai de L'ile is an intriguing watch from a brand that doesn’t normally venture outside of their comfort zone and enter unexplored territory, as they have with this stunning watch.

Condition

Watch is in near-mint condition. Case exhibits minor signs of wear including a few marks visible on the polished areas of the case as seen in the images.

Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.

Our Perspective

Unusual for Vacheron given its departure from their typically reserved aesthetic, the Quai de L'ile is a wonderful show of what the brand can do when they explore unchartered territory and break free from their comfort zone.
