Founded in 1926 as an American importer of watch parts on 47th Street in New York City, Welsbro began its watchmaking journey in exactly the same was as Rolex, by assembling imported watch parts and movements for sale as complete timepieces. With an impressive catalogue of offerings ranging from the 1930s all the way to the 1970s, Welsbro became an iconic American watchmaker famed for their sports watches. Going out of business in the 1970s, Welsbro was likely a victim of the Quartz Crisis, however in 2021 the brand was revived by husband and wife team Rich Reichbach and Katie Willis, who have sought to bring the brand back to its former glory. Existing as an example of that former glory, the watch that we have here is a vintage two-register chronograph model from the brand’s mid-century heyday.
