Introduction
Launched in 2012, the Zenith Pilot Montre D’Aéronef Type 20 is a heritage-inspired pilot’s watch based on the converted pocketwatches of old. With its large 45mm diameter, large and rather imposing onion-shaped crown and thick pushers, the Zenith Pilot Montre D' Aeronef Type 20 is a watch that is clearly designed for use while wearing gloves, to make things slightly easier for a pilot wearing their watch as they traverse the skies. Made of bronze and featuring a glossy blue eastern-Arabic dial, this example is a limited edition variant produced for exclusively for the UAE in 2018. With its commemorative caseback, hefty 45mm construction this timepiece is a wonderful reminder of Zenith’s aviator watch history and the strides that have been made in watchmaking since the early days of the mid-century.
