Audemars Piguet has played a significant role in the history of jeweled women’s watches, combining high horology with refined decorative arts since its founding in 1875. From the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the manufacture created small, elegant timepieces for women that emphasized craftsmanship, precious materials, and intricate gem-setting. During the Art Deco era, Audemars Piguet became especially known for bracelet watches adorned with diamonds, sapphires, and onyx, reflecting both technical mastery and contemporary fashion. These watches often concealed complex mechanical movements within lavish designs, elevating women’s timepieces beyond mere jewelry. In the modern era, the brand has continued this tradition through collections such as the Royal Oak for women, which blends a bold, iconic design with expertly set gemstones. Audemars Piguet’s jeweled women’s watches demonstrate a long-standing commitment to innovation, artistry, and the celebration of feminine elegance in fine watchmaking.

The present example, reference 8020 was made in a French workshop as evidenced by the gold hallmarks, and was sold first in 1964.

Watch is in overall excellent condition. The exposed yellow gold sections of the watch show light marks and scratches consistent with age and wear. All sapphires, diamonds, and their settings remain in excellent condition. The hinged cover retains two legible hallmarks, and the case back features sharp engravings and a clear hallmark. Clasp and inner caseback are further market. The rear-mounted winder shows some light scratches. The white dial has some surface marks. The watch fits approximately a 7” wrist. Please note that the watch ticks at time of listing, but timekeeping is poor and a service is recommended.
