Introduction
Founded in 1988 by master watchmaker Daniel Roth, the Daniel Roth brand quickly established itself as one of the most distinctive names in independent haute horlogerie. Roth’s experience at Breguet shaped his commitment to traditional hand craftsmanship and complicated watchmaking, while his signature double-ellipse case gave his creations an unmistakable identity. The tourbillon, one of Roth’s favored complications, became central to the brand’s early success.
The watch we are offering here is a remarkable expression of that philosophy: an early Daniel Roth skeletonized tourbillon in platinum, dating to approximately 1995. Measuring approximately 40mm by 35mm, its platinum double-ellipse case houses a fully skeletonized and hand-engraved mechanical movement. With virtually no conventional dial to conceal the mechanism, the watch places its horological architecture on full display. Intricately engraved bridges, exposed wheels, blued-steel hands, and the prominent tourbillon cage create a composition that is as much objet d’art as timepiece. The exposed backside of the movement continues this presentation, incorporating indications for the calendar and power reserve, adding useful functionality while preserving the watch’s highly architectural aesthetic. Together with the openworked front, the reversible presentation allows the wearer to appreciate the movement and its complications from virtually every angle.
Produced during the formative years of Daniel Roth’s independent career, this skeleton tourbillon captures the adventurous spirit and uncompromising craftsmanship that made the early brand so important to modern independent watchmaking.

The Dial Side
The dial side reveals the extraordinary architecture of the skeletonized movement, with hand-engraved bridges, exposed wheels, and finely finished components arranged around the prominent tourbillon. Blued-steel hands provide a striking contrast against the silvered and gold-toned mechanism, while the platinum case frames this intricate display with understated elegance.
THE CASEBACK SIDE
The exposed caseback offers a second perspective on the watch’s intricate mechanics, revealing the hand-finished movement beneath the sapphire crystal. Visible on the reverse are the calendar indications and power-reserve display, thoughtfully integrated into the architecture. Their presence adds practical functionality while maintaining the watch’s distinctive skeletonized, highly artistic character.

Condition
Watch is in excellent overall condition. Case show some surface marks, with minor scuffs visible on the polished surfaces, particularly along the bezel. There is a scratch visible on one of the rear of one of the lugs due to a strap change. The hallmarks on the rear of the case-lugs are strong and fully legible. Exposed movement bridges in near-mint condition, with minor signs of aging in certain areas. Watch comes on its original DR strap in used condition with its DR buckle in PT. Watch is accompanied by its Certificate of Origin.
Please Note: Due to CITES considerations, if the watch is to be shipped outside of the USA, the exotic skin strap will have to be removed.
