Introduction
Launched in 2002, the RM002 was Richard Mille’s second ever watch. Taking great inspiration from the original RM, the RM001, it featured small changes such as a titanium baseplate and a titanium case amongst other small changes. However, in 2005 a second version of the RM002 was released after Richard Mille had made further improvements to their materials technology and decided to introduce it to older models rather than only using it in new models, a common practice for the legendary watchmaker. And so, the RM002-V2 was launched with a carbon nanofiber baseplate, an 18kt rose gold case, as we have here, and the same slew of functions as the original, such as its manual winding tourbillon movement with hours, minutes, function selector, power-reserve and torque indicators. Selected as a material for its thermometric stability and chemical neutrality, carbon nanofiber makes for the perfect baseplate as it remains unchanged across a wide variety of temperatures, allowing for more accurate timekeeping. Boasting a function selector at 4 o’clock, the RM002-V2’s crown can be used for all of the watch’s functions. With it set to “W,” one can wind the manually wound Calibre RM-002-V2 movement’s 78 hour power reserve. With “H” selected, the hands can be set and “N” is for “neutral,” which means the crown spins freely. A modernized classic from Richard Mille’s legendary catalog, the RM002-V2 marries contemporary material science with Richard Mille’s iconic aesthetic to create something truly special.

Our Perspective
A signature complication for Richard Mille given it was how they made their name in the industry, the RM002-V2 improves upon the original RM002 with a slightly modernized display, thanks to its carbon nanofiber dial. A small change that makes a noticeable difference.
